In the run up to the election campaign this spring, Nazi splinter group Britain First turned up more than once in Derby, spreading their message of hatred, division and Islamophobia.
They were made to feel very unwelcome, especially when one of their number was pelted with eggs as he tried to push his racism.
Unfortunately they turned up again in Derby yesterday. They harrassed passers-by with their Islamophobic shouting and tried to intimidate us on our stall. One group of teenagers bravely took them on and argued with them in the street. The response to argument from schoolchildren? Britain First tried to have one of them arrested for 'threatening' them.
We are not alone in our disgust at the fascists appearing on the streets of our town. If we don't want them back we need to send a strong message.
There will be a vigil from 10.30 on Saturday morning. Anyone who is opposed to Britain First's vicious Islamophobia, please join us. Let these people know that they are not welcome here!
