Hello everyone,
Welcome to your weekly guide to what's
going on in the SWP!
Branch
Meeting
After
last week's teachers' strike, Sunday's TUC-called demonstration of
60,000 to defend the NHS in Manchester, and the previous week's
action by the FBU to protect vital public services, we ask:
Can
Trades Unions Change Society?
What
is the role of Trades Unions in workers' movements? How useful are
they to revolutionaries? What is the role of activists inside the
unions?
Come
along at 7pm to the West End Community Centre (see attached map) for
a lively talk and discussion on a topic of interest to all activists
who want to see a better world!
The last national event was a great success, with a thousand activists from across the trades union movement discussing and planning strategies for beating back the tide of austerity. Get involved contact us about coming - or sign up here!
Unite The Resistance

People's
Assembly Meeting
Derby People's Assembly are holding their launch event on Saturday
26th October – see below for more details. It is a
packed day and the SWP supports the People's Assembly in trying to
build a fightback against austerity; it will be an important day for
all comrades.
World
Homeless Day – Mass Sleepout
After two recent and successful mass sleepouts organised by Derby
residents, a third has been organised to mark World Homeless Day and
draw attention to those victimised by the capitalist system and the
Con-Dems' austerity politics.
It will begin at the Council House steps at 8 pm on 10th
October. If you can sleep out, fantastic – but you can also head
down to show your support for an hour or two!
Remember, you can keep up with us on twitter @DerbySWP or email us at
this address (derbyswp@gmail.com).
